Mr. Mahmoudi's avocation in his painting is to give opportunity to mysterious world of geometric shapes so as to be eidetic. The present collection is the result of over one decade of work, purification, and evolution of the most extraordinary shape in nature, "square." One of the specific points of this art collection is charming repetition and mild metamorphosis of square while maintaining its fundamental essence. Color and shape are used frugally. No hyperbole and exaggeration are seen. Using solid material, unique technique, and artist's excruciating encounter are all in line with his minimized expression. As the usage of color and shape is economical, the texture is highly operated in order to create shades and motivate its correspondent senses, sight and touch in particular. Artist's encounter in these art pieces is apoiesis confrontation in its essential form that summons the bystander as well. Using these shapes by Mr. Mahmoudi is fairly like using second hand, ordinary, and obvious words by a poet that become valuable and glisten in poem. It seems that it's the first time that square and its shapes are occurring on canvas. It truly astonishes us. Mr. Mahmoudi's work is undoubtedly sign of artist's presence and at the moment experiences. Neither do we talk about local identity nor personalized form nor do we deny it. We don’t talk about abstract art and representation indeed. Whatever happened, happened at the time and place that the shape found a chance to appear itself to the artist. Thus the artist can truly claim: "I have been present there and then."
